Terms and Conditions
Last updated: October 3, 2026
These terms govern your use of Ratelane, a product of AiNest ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Ratelane, you agree to them. If you use it for an organisation, you confirm you can accept these terms on its behalf.
1. The service
Ratelane is runtime control for API fleets. It consists of the dashboard, the policy and telemetry servers, and the open-source SDK packages (for example @ratelane/express and @ratelane/astro) that you install in your own applications. Your applications fetch policies from us, enforce them locally, and send us request metadata so you can see traffic in the dashboard.
2. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your sign-in details and API keys secret. You are responsible for activity under your account and keys.
- The account owner is responsible for the team members they invite and the access they grant.
- Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
- You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 16.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, or use the service to attack, probe or disrupt other systems;
- attempt to bypass plan limits, rate limits or security controls, or access other customers' data;
- reverse engineer or interfere with the hosted service, or overload it beyond what your plan allows;
- send us secrets, passwords, payment card data or other sensitive personal data in telemetry or policy fields;
- resell the hosted service without our written permission.
The SDK packages are licensed under their own open-source licences, which apply to the code you install.
4. Plans, billing and promotions
- Free and paid plans have different limits (such as instances, saved policies, team members and telemetry retention). The limits shown in the dashboard when you subscribe apply.
- Paid plans renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. Payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not store your card details.
- You can cancel at any time from the dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless we say otherwise.
- Unless required by law or stated at purchase, fees already paid are not refunded. Contact us if you think a charge is wrong.
- Promo codes and trials are complimentary access for the period shown. When they end, your account returns to the free plan and free-plan limits apply.
- We may change prices or plans with reasonable notice. Changes apply from your next billing period.
5. Your data
You keep ownership of your data, including your policies and the telemetry your applications send. You give us the right to host, process and display it solely to provide the service. Telemetry is kept for a limited time that depends on your plan (currently 24 hours on Free, 7 days on Pro and 30 days on Enterprise) and is then deleted.
Telemetry can include your end users' IP addresses and request paths. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect that data and for informing your own users. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle it.
6. Availability and how enforcement works
Your applications enforce policies locally. If an instance cannot reach our servers it keeps enforcing its last policy, or its Emergency Profile if you configured one. We work to keep the service reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we may carry out maintenance. You are responsible for testing policies before relying on them in production, since a misconfigured rule can block legitimate traffic.
7. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Ratelane and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access, and revoke API keys, if you breach these terms, put the service or other customers at risk, fail to pay, or if required by law. Where reasonable we will tell you first. After termination your data is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it by law.
8. Emails
We send you service emails you need to run your account, such as password resets, billing notices, security and incident alerts and the alerts you configure. These are not optional. We send product updates and changelogs only if you opt in, and you can withdraw consent at any time from Settings or the unsubscribe link in any such email.
9. Warranties and liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost revenue or lost data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or USD 100 if you are on a free plan). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we will notify you by email or in the dashboard before they take effect. If you keep using the service after the effective date, you accept the updated terms.
11. General
These terms are the whole agreement between you and AiNest for the service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest still applies. They are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which AiNest is established, and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer law gives you other rights.
